About Jonathan

Jonathan qualified from Guys Hospital Dental School in 1978. After spending time in the Hospital Services he concentrated on general practice, starting work in Chiltern Avenue in 1983. He has invested considerable time in postgraduate study both in the USA and UK and is the current LD Pankey Association (UK) Chairman. He has recently gained a masters degree in implant dentistry from the University of Warwick. Philosophy

I feel that we have choices as to our level of achievement or "success" within the profession. Most people would agree that to achieve the greatest personal success in dentistry requires a commitment to give our patients the best we can, to be "excellent" dentists. Working to achieve this "success" involves a commitment to know your capabilities, know your patients and appropriately apply your knowledge.

Excellence has become an overworked word in many fields of business not least healthcare. So what distinguishes my practice from other groups of professional dentists, where does the excellence fit in?

There is no specific formula. Fundamental though is the desire for a personalised, relationship based practice where the care of the patient is the driving factor.

In order to give the best I can, treatment should be based on a very detailed clinical examination not just of the teeth but of the whole masticatory apparatus; in other words treating the person not just the tooth.

This type of dentistry attracts those patients who understand and appreciate the professionalism of the practice and his or her team and who are prepared to go the extra mile for quality. Such patients expect their dentist to be an excellent teacher as well as clinician.

However it is important to recognise that to raise the standard of your practice and the knowledge of your patients is something that takes commitment, time, patience and understanding.
